Why Satin Angora?

There are 4 recognized angora breeds by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) - the English, French, Satin and Giant Angora. Angora from any breed is truly divine in it's soft handle and a joy to work with.

Satin Angora has the silkiest and finest coat of any of the Angora breeds. This is because they carry a recessive gene that causes the casing surrounding each hair shaft to be translucent as opposed to opaque. This gives their coats a distinct satin appearance of luster and sheen. This translucency also causes their wool to be smaller in appearance. However, don't be fooled - the satinized wool is not weak, but actually stronger in comparison due to the more densely constructed collagen cells that their fiber contains.
